At the Assessment Centre:
- You will:
- be given every opportunity to demonstrate your strengths
- gain valuable information about us and how you will fit into Woolworths
- We will:
- have the opportunity to evaluate you
- assess how you may best fit into our organisation
It is a two-way mutually beneficial exercise aimed at producing a 'win/win' result and our research shows us that Assessment Centres are a very accurate predictor of future job performance.
During the day, you will participate in individual and group exercises, structured interviews and psychometric testing. Although quite intense, we strive to create an inclusive atmosphere in which you can enjoy yourself, perform to your optimum capacity and network with the other candidates. Whatever the outcome, comprehensive feedback on your performance will provide you with considerable insight into yourself.
‘I turned up with considerable trepidation on my assessment day. I was quite nervous about how difficult it might be and how I would get on. I needn't have worried. At the initial pre-start coffee I had the opportunity to meet the assessors and my fellow 'condemned' candidates. I quickly realised that the assessors were human and all the candidates were just as nervous as me. Realising we were all in it together quickly helped me to relax. The group exercises were great fun as everyone in the team really interacted with one another. The tests - well, there are no right or wrong answers, so my best advice is just be yourself - that way, it's one thing less to worry about. The same was true with the interviews. After all I was interviewing them as much as they were interviewing me!
The assessors kept on banging on about how, if we made the effort and showed commitment, we could be Store Managers 'by this time next year'. The thought of early responsibility, recognition and rapid promotion in a rapidly changing company appealed. I joined and within nine months was managing my own store. What was all that about 12 months??!!’
