Assistant Store Managers

Leading from the front, you will communicate store goals, motivate and develop your team to meet moving targets, whilst creating enjoyable shopping experiences.

Inspirational, enthusiastic and results oriented, you'll need at least one-to-two years' retail management experience and a burning ambition to learn and progress.

We view all our Assistant Managers as Store Managers-in-Waiting (click on the 'Store Manager' link for more details). Our intensive training programme along with help from your own personal mentor will aim to have you ready to manage your own store within 12-18 months. You'll need to be flexible about location to take full advantage of future career opportunities.

'I joined as a Team Leader in Chippenham in March 2003.
Four weeks later, I was a Senior Team Leader in Clevedon and began my Management Training Scheme aimed at getting me to my first Assistant Management post asap. By November I was acting as an Assistant Manager in Swindon and in February 2004 my appointment was confirmed. I've recently moved to Yate to be involved in their new concept store conversion.

Four stores in 16 months. It's an exciting, fast moving business where no two days are the same... and you're positively encouraged to progress and achieve. I love getting the best out of people and seeing a smile on the face of colleagues and customers alike.

I was told that I could be an Assistant Manager within a year. Woolworths certainly kept their promise to me.'
